Neck and face flap sun hat in lightweight 100% polyester. The wide brim shades the face and eyes, and the detachable flap drops over the neck and ears when the light climbs: run it as full coverage, neck only, or brim alone. Explore our full range of sun hats and caps.
The fabric blocks over 98% of UVA and UVB on the skin it covers, with the protection woven into the polyester yarn, so it holds through sweat and will not wash out. Breathable for long wear, packs light for trails, camping and fishing, and an adjustable drawcord and toggle hold it steady in wind. One size, regular unisex fit. Machine wash cold on gentle, hang dry, reshape the brim while damp. See also our UV clothing.
Spend a full day on an exposed ridge and the back of the neck and the tops of the ears take the worst of the sun, long after the face has adjusted. This hat covers both. Browse the complete UV Max collection.

WHAT THE SUN IS DOING
The damage does not show up today
UV does not sting the way heat does, so you never feel it working. It stacks up quietly, one afternoon at a time, and turns up on your skin in your forties as spots and rough patches a doctor wants to look at. A cotton tee leaves your forearms and the back of your neck open to every hour of it. This shirt closes that gap.
WHAT THE SUN IS DOING
The two spots a cap always misses
A baseball cap shades your forehead and leaves the back of your neck and the tops of your ears in open sun. Those are the two spots men burn first and notice last. A brim that runs the whole way round, or a drop-down flap, finally covers both.
WHAT THE SUN IS DOING
Shade that moves with you
There is not always a tree where you need one. The brim keeps the sun off your face and ears on the water, on the ridge and in the open field, so the shade is there the moment the sun is.
WHAT THE SUN IS DOING
Folds flat, holds in a gust
It packs into a bag and the chin cord keeps it on when the wind comes off the water. UPF 50+ blocks over 98% of UV, so it protects for as long as you keep it on your head.
