Product details
Men's lightweight waterproof windbreaker in 100% polyester with a waterproof, breathable membrane, in cyan and black. The whole jacket runs 210 g, with three zip pockets that lock down a phone and a gel, the rear one big enough for a folded layer, and an adjustable hood for exposed trails. Explore our full range of UV jackets.
The fabric blocks over 98% of UVA and UVB on the skin it covers, and the protection is part of the yarn, so it does not rinse out and works soaked or dry. The membrane keeps rain out while sweat escapes, elastic cuffs and hem seal the edges and the jacket holds its shape wash after wash. Regular active cut, true to size, S to XXL; size up to layer a fleece. Machine wash cold on gentle, hang dry, no dry cleaning. See also our UV clothing.
Late-afternoon ride, pointed straight into low sun with the arms out on the bars for an hour. This shell covers that exposed skin and is light enough to stuff in a jersey or pack. Browse the complete UV Max collection.

Fabric and care
100% polyester with a waterproof membrane, UPF 50+
UV does not sting the way heat does, so you never feel it working. It stacks up quietly, one afternoon at a time, and turns up on your skin in your forties as spots and rough patches a doctor wants to look at. A cotton tee leaves your forearms and the back of your neck open to every hour of it. This shirt closes that gap.
WHAT THE SUN IS DOING
Wind and sun, one light shell
On an exposed ridge the wind is the thing you feel and the sun is the one you do not. The UPF 50+ shell cuts both, and it does it without the weight or heat of a real coat.
WHAT THE SUN IS DOING
It only protects if you carry it
The point of a packable shell is that it folds down small enough that you actually bring it. Sun on the way out, a shower on the way back, both handled from the side pocket of your pack.
WHAT THE SUN IS DOING
Blocks over 98% of UV, holds in the wash
The rating lives in the fabric, so a summer of trips and washes does not thin it out. Water beads and runs off, and the sun stays off your arms the whole time.

Forearms finally stopped burning
I fish and hike most weekends and the tops of my forearms used to go red every single time, even when I forgot to reapply sunscreen. Wore this navy one on a six hour coastal hike and nothing, not a mark. Sleeve goes all the way to the wrist and stays put. It is thin but never clings when you sweat, and it dried on my back within maybe twenty minutes after the climb. Fit is close without being tight, I am 1,85m and the L was right.

Cuts the wind, packs to nothing
Wanted something for early starts in the hills that would block the wind without cooking me once the sun came up. This does both. Zips right up at the neck and the wind just stops. Packs down small enough to shove in a daypack and forget. Matte black, looks like a normal jacket, not gym kit.

Nine hours of sun, arms fine
spent nine hours out chasing snapper off the boat, full sun the whole time. usually i cook out there. this time my arms were fine and the white kept me cooler than i expected. got splashed a fair bit and it was dry again in no time. only thing, white shows a bit of everything so i ordered a navy as well.

Ears and neck finally in shade
I burn on the tops of my ears and the back of my neck every summer on the water. This brim is wide enough that all of that stays covered now. The little side vents actually move some air so my head does not sweat as bad. Chin cord keeps it on when the wind picks up on the lake.

Good shirt, size up if you are between
Bought two of these for yard work and coaching my son's ball games where I stand in the sun for hours. Material is genuinely nice, light and it moves with you. Knocked off a star only because the M was a little snug across the chest and I probably should have gone L, so if you are on the line size up. Washed both maybe eight times now and they look the same as day one, no fading on the navy.

Eight hours into the sun, no headache
Drove eight hours west straight into the sun and my eyes were not fried at the other end for once. The polarising really cuts the glare off the road and the bonnet. They sit tight enough that they do not slide down when I look at my phone. Case they came in was decent too.

I run in it every morning
I do 5k before work and hate anything that holds sweat. This does not. By the time I am home it is already close to dry and it never got that heavy clingy feeling. Breathes better than two running tops I paid a lot more for. The white is properly white too, not thin like I worried.

Lives in my bag
Bought it for travelling light. Folds into its own little pouch about the size of a sandwich so it lives in my bag and I forget it is there until it rains. Kept a light shower off fine. Only thing, the sizing runs a touch generous so I could have gone down from L to M. Still reach for it most days.

18 holes, no sunburn
Played a full round in strong sun and came off the course without the usual red neck and arms. Light enough that I forgot I had long sleeves on by the back nine. My wife bought me a second one after seeing how much I wore this. Shipping to Canada took about twelve days which was fine.

Proper all-round hiking hat
The brim goes all the way round so my neck and ears are covered no matter which way the sun is. Light enough that I forget I have it on, and the chin string means it does not blow off on the ridgelines. The camo is subtle, not loud, which I liked.

Wear it more than my normal shirts now
Bought it just for the sun protection but it ended up being the thing I grab for everything. Looks clean enough to wear to lunch, not like gym gear. Navy is a deep proper navy. Fabric is smooth, none of that cheap shiny polyester feel I expected at this price.

Stay put on the rough stuff
Ride trails most weekends and normal sunglasses bounce off on the rocky sections. These have the strap so they stay on even on the drops. Lenses are bright enough that I can still read the ground in shade under the trees. Bit of a wrap so no sun sneaks in the sides.

Exactly what my skin needed
I had a spot removed off my shoulder last year and was told to keep the sun off my skin properly, not just lotion. I garden every day so long sleeves that do not roast me were the goal. This is exactly it. I own three now in white and no sun gets through. Wish they did a lighter grey but that is minor.

Stayed dry on an exposed coast path
Got caught in proper rain on an exposed coast path and stayed dry the whole way back. Water just beads and runs off. The hood actually fits over a cap and does not collapse over your eyes. Chest pocket zips so my phone stayed dry too.

The hood solved my neck
I paddle out most mornings and the back of my neck always took the worst of it. The hood solves that and the thumb holes keep the sleeves down over the back of my hands while I paddle. Dries almost instantly when I get splashed. The navy has not faded after a month of salt and sun.

See straight into the water now
Fishing glasses first, everyday second. On the water the glare just disappears and I can see into the shallows. Light on the face, no pinching behind the ears after a full day out. Shipping to Canada was quicker than I expected, about ten days.

Doctor told me to cover my neck
I had two spots taken off my neck so my doctor told me to keep it covered. The flap on this does that better than any sunscreen I kept forgetting to reapply. Looks a bit goofy, I will admit, but I garden alone so I do not care. Would have liked a lighter colour for hot days, so knocked off a star for that.

Ended up buying four
Started with one to test it, ended up ordering three more in different colours. Thin, cool, covers the arms, dries fast. Exactly what I wanted for summer.

Lives in my pack
Barely weighs anything and blocks the wind up on the summits. Rolls down to nothing. I reach for it on every hike now.

Good shade, runs a little warm
Brim keeps the sun off my face and neck all afternoon. Only gripe is the dark colour gets a bit hot at midday. Still wear it every day on site.

Glare just gone
Wear these driving and on the boat. The glare off the water just vanishes and my eyes stop aching by evening. Snug fit, never slide off.

Replaced a sun shirt that cost me three times as much and this one breathes better. Colour is spot on. Will buy again.

Neck finally covered
The flap keeps my neck completely out of the sun, which is the bit I always missed with lotion. Packs flat in a bag too.

Solid, case is flimsy
Lenses are great, really cut the brightness at the lake. The case they come in is a bit flimsy so I use my own. Glasses themselves are spot on.

Light enough for a cool morning without overheating once the sun is up. Packs down small. Been my go to jacket since it arrived.
